Oculus Rift Retail Box: A Closer Look

Oculus announced specs and features of oculus rift VR headset at GDC. They also announced that ut wull be packed and shipped in the same casing as of development kit (DK1). The packing itself is premium and looks like worth of $600. But user are not getting DK1’s protective box. The box is big. It’s bigger than both D.Ks. Final design of tracking devices was not finalised in previous prototypes so boxes were small. Here everything is ready for shipment and it also uses a USB 3.0 connection to work so surely box will be big. It’s just cardboard. Premium look is achieved by profiling it with metal and solid rope. DK1 had premium plastic. Rift uses a minimum of five textures on plastic used. It gives an unexplainable weird feeling. Same applies to Xbox one controller. The less premium nature shows how this product is just first gen that is why company is rough around corners. Still if you are one of those members on crowdfunding website Kickstarter who supp...

HTC Vive ‘The Lab’: A Spectacular Playground Full Of Virtual Reality Toys

A passionate Tech geek goes hands on with Valve’s most recent virtual reality encounter, an accumulation of investigations in immersive gaming popularly denoted as ‘The Lab’. In the first open appearing of the Lab, we got an opportunity to hop into 4 unique regions. The first was what Valve is calling a “postcard” – a wonderfully rendered photogrammetry caught a scene of genuine mountain, Vesper Peak. I was transported to the crest and welcomed by a kind of smooth robot canine that needed to play bring with various sticks scattered around. Teleporting with my left controller, I investigated the top, which as a result of the photogrammetry was a 1:1 involvement regarding authenticity. Before long I needed to say goodbye to my robot puppy (he needed to continue playing and having his robot-tummy rubbed) and destroyed to a demo called Slingshot. A transport line of the famous circular robots keeps running past me in a modern focus. I’m on a stage with a mechanical s...

Crytek is going all in with its latest risky manoeuvre. It started with a game engine and game developer. With inception of far cry came out its game engine which drove pixels and 3D graphics into the game. It was excellent at that point in time. After nearly a decade and going on, CryTek has become a full time game engine developer . CRYENGINE V is given for free. It is shifting to an unorthodox but much needed business model of pay what you want thus approximately giving the developers much more than they would get if they sold the product. However it is risky as if game engine is buggy they will have to face the consequences. CryTek too is developing a game engine with  amazon  called lumberyard which is nothing but CRYENGINE with some changes. It is also creating a  benchmark  engine. Here are some features and specs of CRYENGINE V: An API to enable scripting in C# right out of the box Improves hardware performance with low overhead renderer DX12 su...
